You are either being highly delusively fallacious, or you have you are inanely unintelligent. I clearly stated that “Citizens United vs FEC” is what caused the privatization of our political system. This case now allows corporations, and wealthy individuals to contribute an unlimited amount of funds to politicians, as well as run a limitless amount of ads anonymously. Kristen, I think the case is less true that a library will own subscriptions to all the titles in the JSTOR databases they have licenses for. While the hosting concept was part of JSTOR’s early days, I see them becoming more like EBSCO and Proquest today in how they are doing business. They’ve also expanded by merging with Portico and are now offering current content.

That's not really what I meant. What I meant is that the truth is objective. Now one may seek the truth and find one answer and someone else may seek the truth and find a different answer. But in reality, there is only one answer that is true. You obviously think one way, and I think the other. And only one of us is right. That's what I was pointing out by saying it is objective. The thing about your old arguement is that it shows no necessity for a god, so with your current line of thought, there could be a chance for a god or gods, but they've arisen out of the universe rather than the other way around. In this way, I do not see how it would be possible for a “creator” type being to come into existence, but feel free to debate me on that point.

As for the JSTOR thing, it’s reasonably clear to me that "personal" in this case means "you yourself are using it and not creating a database for other people to use, or reselling the actual articles (not the work you produced using the articles as sources)." It’s a little ambiguous, but I expect that comes from JSTOR trying to spare users the full legal contract, rather than because they are trying to entrap researchers into misusing JSTOR material.

I can’t stand spoilers. I avoid watching a significant number of commercials and often avoid trailers for movies I’m very interested in. Like Harry Potter. I still find it a little troubling that in order to legally protect academic publishers, JSTOR users have to either create an account that they use or (when using the library’s general access) pledge to obey over and over. Something in me still baulks at the distinction between personal (which includes every kind of public engagement with ideas scholars typically do) and not-okay use (which means trying to make money or prevent others from making money). In this context, bending everything around profit just seems weird. Inevitable, but weird.
